Building Music

Building Music is an interactive installation that explores the musicality of different architectural features. By moving the light of a flashlight along the facade of the building the viewers create musical compositions while lighting the windows. Every window hides a sound and a color that are activated by the viewers from the distance.

The project enables the augmentation of public facades to transform them into interacive spaces creating a dialogue between the audience and the architecture around them.

We are Magnetic
We are Magnetic (click here to see video and images)

Some human beings have proven their capacity to attract all kinds of metallic objects to their bodies. Like these “magnetic people” we all accumulate objects that stick to us when things change in our lives, when we re-locate or move house or when we change course in our lives.

In "We are Magnetic" we see how certain objects within the installation chase and stick to us, forming a peculiar robot that walks in our footsteps. They are our things, our possessions; the things that we attract. “We are Magnetic” explores the relationship between the viewer and his attraction of the objects that fill their everyday life. The images created in the projection compose a hybrid human being, half natural and half artificial, armored by all the things that modernity has forced him to need.

Site specific installation created for the Miradores Biennale 07 held at the Matadero of Legazpi (old Madrid's slaughterhouse). In this ex-slaughterhouse thousands of animals were sacrified for human consume. Those pigs, cows, horses are still among us, and in a far away maner they fed us and our ancestors. If we have a good look we can see them around us, we only need a very special light : the light of The Magic Torch.

The Magic Torch

By pointing the "Magic" Torch at the screen, we see how hundreds of small stars, planets, asteroids and unusual shapes follow its beam of light. The viewers are able to see how, as they control the flashlight, these elements are driven by the movements of their hands, enjoying it as a peculiar remote control. The pleasure of playing with this light that hides something magical brings a fantasy world alive.
